About this section

What this section shows and how to use it

An order book is the list of all current buy and sell orders with their price and size. Buy orders sit below the current price, sell orders above it. The gap between the best bid and the best ask is called the spread.

This section shows the live Binance order book with level aggregation: orders at nearby prices are merged into one block, otherwise the picture falls apart into thousands of rows and stops being readable. Large clusters are highlighted separately.

Market depth shows how much volume has to be absorbed to move price a given distance. A thin book means even an average trade moves price noticeably, a deep one means the market can take size without a sharp move.

Frequently asked questions

How do you read an order book?

Buy orders on one side, sell orders on the other. The longer the bar at a price, the more size sits there. Large clusters show where price will have a harder time passing through.

What does market depth show?

How much volume stands between the current price and a given level. It is a direct estimate of how expensive it would be to move price that far.

What is the spread and why does it matter?

The difference between the best buy and sell price. A wide spread means low liquidity: entering and exiting costs more than the chart suggests.

How is an order book different from a chart?

A chart shows what has already happened to price. The order book shows intent: which orders are standing right now and where resistance may appear.
